Week 3: Reflection
Follow Your Star
The journey of the Magi, difficult as it may have been, delivered them to the Christ Child, the King, the Messiah, the Savior. They kept their eyes on the star that guided them to “the place where Jesus lay” despite the challenges they faced.
Close your eyes. Do you see the star? Can you focus on that star, despite your pain, your loneliness, your fears? Truly, it is present within each of us, guiding us, calling us to take a leap of faith, disregarding the hardships, disregarding societal distractions, disregarding a world embedded in materialism. Let us follow that star, no matter how hopeless it may be, no matter how far it is, no matter how long it will take. That star will lead us to Christ, to the kingdom he has prepared for us, to the home which will give us peace and joy.
Closing song
Sometimes we believe our dreams are impossibile to achieve, but, like Don Quijote, the 16th century fictional character created by Spanish writer, Miguel de Cervantes, whose passion and ideals give him purpose, we too can journey forward. Let his song inspire us…

The Impossible Dream
(lyrics from the movie Man of La Mancha)
To dream the impossible dream
To fight the unbeatable foe
To bear with unbearable sorrow
And to run where the brave dare not go
To right the unrightable wrong
And to love pure and chaste from afar
To try when your arms are to weary
To reach the unreachable star
This is my quest
To follow that star
Ooh, no matter how hopeless
No matter how far
To fight for the right
Without question or pause
To be willing to march, march into hell
For that heavenly cause
And I know
If I’ll only be true
To this glorious quest
That my heart
Will lie peaceful and calm
When I’m laid to my rest
And the world will be better for this
Oh, that one man, scorned and covered with scars
Still strong with his last ounce of courage
To reach the unreachable, the unreachable
The unreachable star
Yeah, and I’ll always dream
The impossible dream
Yes, and I’ll reach
The unreachable star
